Maritime law sets strict limits on the number of guests a yacht can carry while moving. Most charter yachts in Ibiza are licensed for a maximum of 12 guests, although some vessels are licensed for 11, 10 or even as few as 7, depending on their size and certification.

The captain is legally responsible for your safety and cannot exceed the licensed capacity under any circumstances. The fines are substantial and the consequences for the captain are too severe for any reputable operator to risk breaking safety regulations.

In some situations, more guests can be together on the main yacht when it is at anchor, but only if the extra guests arrive on a separate support boat with its own skipper, whose license legally covers them while moving.
